Alan Moffatt

MSc - BSc(Hons) - MCSP


Alan qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2000. He has progressed up the physiotherapy career ladder and worked for the NHS as a Musculoskeletal Clinical Specialist from 2007 to 2016. This role involved the management of the most complex musculoskeletal conditions, requiring the highest level of clinical expertise. This NHS role was extended beyond that of traditional physiotherapy and included such activities as the administration of steroid injections.


Alan has been qualified to carry out Acupuncture since 2002. He gained a post-graduate diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine in 2005 and completed a Master's Degree in Advanced Practice at the University of Liverpool in 2011. Alan has been a keen amateur football player, but maintains his fitness with running, circuit training and Insanity workouts. He also recently completed the Greater Manchester Marathon and Total Warrior race although 2 young children also keep him on his toes!

Maria Moffatt

MRes - BSc(Hons) - MCSP


Maria qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2004, progressing her NHS career to Musculoskeletal Clinical Specialist level, dealing with a broad spectrum of complex musculoskeletal conditions.

She has been qualified to perform acupuncture since 2008 and also completed a Master of Research degree in 2013 where the focus of her research was into the prevention and management of pregnancy-related back pain and pelvic girdle pain. She has published this research in an international peer-reviewed journal and has also published papers on the use of acupuncture in pregnancy. She is a member of the peer-reviewed panel of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, she has worked as an external lecturer at the University of Liverpool and is currently undertaking a PhD study at the University of Central Lancashire, continuing her work exploring the prevention of pregnancy-related back pain and pelvic girdle pain.

Maria enjoys keeping fit and has managed to match Alan's exploits by also completing the Manchester Marathon and the 10Km Total Warrior race this year.
